Mid-term Consultation
One of Small Talk’s primary objectives is to understand the potential for existing science communication networks to facilitate public engagement with upstream issues. Everybody has an opinion on this, and we would like to hear them all – preferably by 31 January 2006 . Following this dead-line, we will report back on the review process.
If you have an opinion on upstream science communication or nanotechnology (and who doesn’t?) we want to hear it. You have an important role to play in Small Talk’s review process.
If you work in science communication, nanotechnology or science policy, let us know what you want out of Small Talk.
Here are some specific questions that will help Small Talk to help you.
Questions about the needs of policy makers
- What questions/issues are you interested in hearing public perspectives on?
- Are there any key decision points in the next 12 months where input from small talk might be useful?
- How would you like information presented to you?
Questions for science communicators
- What type of dialogue events do you have planned over the next 12 months a) on Nanoscience b) on other topics?
- What do you hope to achieve through these events?
- What would encourage you to try out new participative formats for events?
- What would be your main concerns about trying out new participative formats?
- How could Small Talk help your dialogue events in the future?
Questions for dialogue professionals and academics
- How do the findings of Small Talk resonate with your research findings?
- What do you see as the barriers to science communication community adopting genuine dialogue techniques?
- Have you developed/know of any novel formats that could work on a small scale?
