Get involved
Do you want to organise a dialogue event on nanotechnologies?
Are you a scientist, social scientist or policymaker interested in finding out more about public views of nanotechnologies?
Are you a member of the public interested in taking part in a discussion of nanotechnologies?
Then you should get involved in Small Talk.
What do event organisers and speakers get out of Small Talk?
- Guidelines on good practice for running dialogue events
- Suggestions for areas of interest or concern raised in previous debates about nanotechnologies to discuss in dialogue events
- Information on the lessons learned from the successes, failures and outcomes of previous dialogue events on nanotechnologies
- Resources on nanotechnologies and access to key organisations, reports and appropriate speakers
- Support in finding and briefing speakers
- In-built evaluation of their event and mechanisms for feedback from participants, organisers and speakers
- The chance to contribute towards a widespread exploration of attitudes towards nanotechnologies that will be shared with the science community and policymakers
What do event participants get out of Small Talk?
- An interesting dialogue event on nanotechnologies
- The chance to share their aspirations and concerns about different areas of nanotechnologies
- The chance for the public and scientists to get together and learn more about what each other thinks and how they discuss things
- The opportunity for their ideas to be incorporated into a larger report to be shared with policymakers and the science community
What does Small Talk get out of your event?
- Feedback from participants, speakers and organisers on the aspirations and concerns of scientists and the public about nanotechnologies to help us develop the future debate
- Evaluation of the event’s success from participants, speakers and organisers to give us ideas and strategies to help produce further successful dialogue events
- A diverse group of dialogue events to draw upon and science communicators to work with to increase the impact of Small Talk, and a variety of audiences to share their views on nanotechnologies
