Nanotechnologies links
You may find it useful to find out more about organisations in the UK that are involved in nanotechnologies research or assessment. Below is a series of links to appropriate organisations engaged in nanotechnologies in the UK. These organisations may help to provide further resources on nanotechnologies for Small Talk event organisers and participants.Institute of Nanotechnology
This is the professional body for people involved in nanotechnologies industry or research in the UK. It has links with European networks, and governments, universities, research and companies worldwide. The website provides mainly technical information on nanotechnologies events, jobs, links, books, courses, images and news.
Royal Society & Royal Academy of Engineering review of nanotechnology
As part of their study, the Royal Society and Royal Academy of Engineering created a website, which explains more about the study, how it was carried out, what is happening now, and provides an opportunity for people to respond to the report.
Royal Society
This page on the Royal Society website gives an overview of the joint nanotechnologies project plus links to the website above and the study’s final report.
NanotechWeb
This website advertises itself as the world service for nanotechnologies. It provides search information on nanotechnologies-related news, reviews, resources and events. You can also sign up to recieve weekly nanotechnologies news updates.
Soft Machines
A useful weblog on all aspects of nanotechnologies by Richard Jones, chair of the Nanotechnologies Engagement Group and author of Soft Machines: nanotechnology and life . One entry is an annotated list of numberous books about the nanotechnology.
Nanologue
Europe-wide dialogue on benefits, risks and social, ethical and legal implications of nanotechnologies. Nanologue’s overarching objective is to facilitate a dialogue among researchers, business and civil society about the benefits and potential impacts of nanoscience and nanotechnology applications.
Nanoscience at Cambridge
The website of the Cambridge University Nanoscience Centre gives information about the centre including its Masters programme in nanotechnologies and Interdisciplinary Research Collaboration (IRC). There is also a link to a user-friendly related website on nanotechnologies for schools.
London Centre for Nanotechnology
The London Centre for Nanotechnology is a new academic research collaboration with Imperial College, London. Its website gives examples of the scientific focus of the centre, its events, media coverage and contact information.
Oxford University Begbroke Science Park
Oxford University Begbroke Science Park has developed an online interactive resource called ‘The Basics of Nanotechnology’, which explains and illustrates: the basic concepts and terminology involved; the scientific background; current and potential applications; and the wider considerations involved in nanotechnologies. Visitors can also subscribe to receive events bulletins from the science park.
EuroScience.Net
This website was set up as an attempt to address societal nanotechnology issues on a European level and provides background information and debate issues on nanotechnology from commentators such as Nature's Philip Campbell and Greenpeace's Douglas Parr.
